PRESENT
Currently Giacomini employs over 1000 workers, exporting around 80% of its production in over 100 countries in the world, thanks to around 130.000 m² of the 4 production plants and its 12 branches approximately 100 tons of brass is processed daily.
For the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Giacomini S.p.A. was invited to exhibit inside Casa Italia the innovative project of the hydrogen burner. The hydrogen catalytic combustor named H2ydrogem® (see page 107), designed by Company’s R&D department, was considered by the Piedmont Region as the distinctive mark of a local entrepreneurial project that managed to invest in low environmental impact energy solutions. In addition, together with the historical production plant of San Maurizio d’Opaglio, in 2007, 8000 additional square meters were built.
The new factory allowed the Company to reorganize its production, so as to comply as efficiently as possible with the ever growing requests of the Market. The new structure, despite the huge industrial dimensions, was designed plain, simple, and environmentally friendly. The building is conditioned with Giacomini state of the art heating and cooling technologies, an industrial floor radiant system for the production part, and metal ceiling radiant systems for the offices.
The energy needed for floor conditioning is supplied by geothermal heat pumps and five condensing boilers. The area for offices and laboratories, 300 m², uses partially the energy produced by geothermal heat pumps and partially that of a Giacomini Hydrogen Generator. Some activities earlier carried out in the Turning Department were transferred to the new building for processing the brass bar., the fire protection products and manifolds.
The production philosophy is oriented to guarantee a proper flow of information, so that all the systems have in real time the data necessary to optimise logistic flows.
