M-BUS CENTRAL UNITS

 

The direct reading of measured data is possible on each metering device thanks to analogical or digital displays, however this can be difficult or not conforming with tenant’s privacy in case of metering units installed in common condominium areas or even inside the apartments. In addition direct reading takes time, it is subject to inevitable mistakes and imposes the installation of metering units in positions easy to access.

Ideal is therefore to have a single concentrating device that periodically polls all the meters to gather individual consumption data. In this way, the data reading becomes fast, convenient and possible at any moment also if the tenants are out.

GE552 M-BUS CENTRAL UNIT
The M-Bus GE552 central unit collects all the consumption data, stores them and makes them available in a single point of the building. To do this, all the metering groups are simply connected to the central unit through a 2-wire signal cable which is the transmission support for the M-Bus communication network.

A procedure for automatic recognition of the devices connected to the M-Bus network facilitates the commissioning of the installation and the list of devices is stored in an EEPROM memory. The data can be read manually (real time) or automatically by setting the required time interval. Access to the functions of the device can be done in two ways:

• locally, using the keyboard and the display unit or via a PC and the RS232 serial connection;
• remotely, via the RS232 serial connection and a modem (*).

The access profiles are differentiated to allow only a reading of the stored data or the complete configuration of the device by specialized personnel. The access can be protected by a password.

Versions
Versions are available for centralizing a maximum of 20, 60, 120 or 250 M-Bus meters. All GE552 M-Bus central units comply the M-Bus standard according to EN 1434-3.
