MID DIRECTIVE
The European directive 2004/22/EC "Measurement instruments Directive" was issued by the European Parliament and Council to clarify the important sector of measurement instruments. It was implemented in many European countries by national laws and standards.
On the accuracy and reliability of the measures detected by these devices depend commercial sales, taxation, adoption of environmental provisions, consumer protection and much else.
Taking into account the delicacy of the executed task, the MID Directive sets the requirements to be complied with for devices and measurement systems for their marketing and operation. It also sets the need of an additional metrological marking together with the usual CE marking.
All energy meters installed on Giacomini GE555 modules and GE556 satellites comply with MID Directive.
