MID DIRECTIVE
Italian law decree February 2 2007 nr. 22*, "Implementation of directive 2004/22/CE relative to measurement instruments", enacted in Italy the MID directive (2004/22/CE - Measurement Instrument Directive) issued by the European Parliament and Council to streamline the important sector of measurement instruments.
On the accuracy and reliability of the measures detected by these devices as a matter of fact commercial sales, tax levying, adoption of environmental provisions, consumer protection and much else do depend.
Taking into account the delicacy of the executed task, the law decree sets the requirements to be complied with for devices and measurement systems for their marketing and operation. It also sets the need of an additional metrological marking together with the usual CE marking
All thermal energy measuring devices installed on Giacomini GE555 modules and GE556 satellites metering comply with MID Directive.

METROLOGY MARK
A label that certifies the MID complying of the measuring instruments is shown on the housing of each unit and is made by the CE mark, the "M" metrology mark and the identifier of the institute which granted the certification (eg "0102" for PTB, Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt).
