Giacomini welcomes Minister Pichetto Fratin to the Sustainability District and Hydrogen Museum: innovation and sustainability at the core of the institutional visit.
Last Saturday, Giacomini S.p.A. had the pleasure of hosting the Honorable Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, at its Sustainability District and Hydrogen Museum in San Maurizio d’Opaglio. Accompanying him was Regional Councilor Annalisa Beccaria, in a visit that provided a valuable opportunity to discuss key topics surrounding the energy transition and innovative solutions developed by the company.
Welcoming the Minister was Dr. Andrea Alessandro Giacomini, CEO of Giacomini S.p.A., who opened the visit by emphasizing the company's decades-long commitment to hydrogen technologies, such as the hydrogen heat generator, commonly referred to as the "hydrogen boiler."
During the guided tour, Chief Technology Officer Guido Galliani provided an in-depth explanation of the H₂ydroGEM hydrogen heat generator, highlighting its innovative features:
A Commitment to Technological Innovation and Sustainability
Giacomini S.p.A., a leader in technological innovation, has been developing advanced solutions for the energy transition for over 20 years. As early as 2005, the company patented a hydrogen combustion system and presented the first model of the H₂ydroGEM burner during the Turin Winter Olympics. This system ensures safe combustion without CO₂ or NOx emissions, demonstrating hydrogen's potential as a clean energy carrier from the very beginning.
In 2024, the fifth generation of the hydrogen boiler was developed in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano. This 25 kW prototype, designed for the instantaneous production of domestic hot water, marks a significant milestone in the evolution of heating technologies. A compact version, currently undergoing certification and pre-industrialization, further reflects the company’s continuous commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions.
Future Prospects: The Hydrogen Valley
A key moment of the visit was the presentation of the Hydrogen Valley project, an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming the area around the Sustainability District into a model of excellence for the energy transition. This project seeks to integrate hydrogen production, storage, and utilization, reinforcing Italy's position as a leader in the sector.
The Honorable Pichetto Fratin expressed great interest in the solutions presented, highlighting the importance of collaborations between industry, research, and institutions in addressing decarbonization challenges.
With over 70 years of history, Giacomini continues to lead the way in combining tradition and innovation, offering technologies that meet the demands of a more sustainable future.
